Restic on CloudSonic

Restore any site to any point in the last seven days from encrypted off-server snapshots stored in Backblaze B2

TL;DR Restic

Restic backs up every CloudSonic server daily to Backblaze B2 with 7 day daily retention and one monthly snapshot, stored externally and completely separate from your server.

Restic is a fast, secure, and efficient open source backup program that runs daily on every CloudSonic server, storing encrypted and compressed snapshots to Backblaze B2 by default. Seven days of daily recovery points and one monthly snapshot are retained, giving you multiple restore points without excessive storage consumption. Backups are stored completely off-server so a server failure, accidental deletion, or compromise does not affect your backup availability.

Prerequisites

Restic for Automated Backups on CloudSonic

Restic runs on every CloudSonic server on a daily schedule, connecting to Backblaze B2 using credentials stored securely server-side and pushing encrypted, deduplicated snapshots of your server files and databases. Deduplication means only changed data is transferred on each backup, keeping storage usage and transfer costs low even for large sites with substantial media libraries. Restores are available with one click from your CloudSonic dashboard covering individual files, a specific database, or a complete application, without needing to use the command line or contact support.

Warning Store your Restic encryption password securely and separately from your server; if you lose it, your backup snapshots cannot be decrypted and your backups are permanently unrecoverable.
